Plan and provide clinical care for patients at an Indian River Medical Center on/offsite medical office practices in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Under the direction of the Office Physician the Clinical Assistant II will be responsible for directing and coordinating day-to-day clinical functions within the practice. The Clinical Assistant II may function as The OSHA Safety Officer for physician practices to ensure compliance.
Provides professional clinical care for patients within the medical office practice, including nursing care plans, monitoring of vital signs, and patient/family education.
Acts as a clinical resource in various situations.
Safely records and administers medications.
Assists physicians with medical examinations and treatments as appropriate.
Performs waived laboratory tests and EKGs.
Facilitates ease of visit within office, and assists with external resources and scheduling as needed. Collaborates with other services in meeting identified patient needs
Performs various duties to support operations, including cleaning / maintenance of work areas, exam rooms, office equipment, and supplies as needed, telephone and reception duties, and pickup/delivery of various items as needed.
Conducts physical exams, assesses health status, orders and interprets tests and treats illnesses including giving injections and suturing wounds.
Monitors therapies and provides continuity of care.
Triage's patient calls and evaluates patient problems. Responds to emergencies including use of CPR.
Counsels patient/family on preventive health care.
Documents patient information and care in medical record and may maintain department statistical database for research purposes.
