The RN-Intermediate will provide skilled nursing care and support to patients and will assist physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APP).
Assesses the health needs of patients using specialized knowledge and skills. Obtains patients’ medical histories and assists with physical exams. Discusses patients ’ conditions with Physicians, APP, and Nursing Supervisor as needed. Primary Nurse assigned to 1, 2, or 3 Oncology clinicians. Performs nursing assessments of Oncology patients and communicate findings to Clinicians’; assist in the coordination of treatment.
Ensures the clinic flow runs smoothly and provides supervision of the assigned Medical Assistant. Works closely with the assigned Medical Assistant to ensure all chart preparation is complete and ready for clinic. Works closely with assigned Scheduler to ensure referrals, follow up appointments, diagnostic tests, etc. are scheduled accordingly per Medical Provider/APP.
Triages patient calls and work closely with call center team members. Calls-in prescriptions and refills for patients. Assists and arranges for hospital admissions as needed. Follows up on diagnostic tests, labs, and ensures they are reported to the Medical Provider/APP.
Schedules patients for chemotherapy/blood transfusions. Provides patients with patient education on chemotherapy. Ensures chemotherapy/blood transfusion orders are delivered to the correct infusion center. Attends tumor board per Medical Provider discretion. Cross covers other nurses as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree with three (3) years of professional nursing experience, and a current Texas Registered Nurse license.
