This position is for the Pediatric Hematology
The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital is recruiting a nurse coordinator to support the care of children with hematological disorders including anemia (sickle cell disease, other hemoglobinopathies, a wide range of diseases of red cell production), bleeding and clotting disorders, and white cell disorders. The Division includes thirteen Pediatric Hematologists/Oncologists, six Ph.D. research faculty, four Nurse Practitioners, and seven nurse specialists and coordinators who provide multidisciplinary, comprehensive clinical care for patients with cancer and blood disorders. Our physicians are included in the list of Best Doctors in America and we are highly ranked by US News and World Report. The Hematology Program includes a state funded Sickle Cell Program and a Thrombosis and Hemostasis Program. We work with the Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center of Central Pennsylvania. Ongoing research projects include those involving bleeding disorders and sickle cell anemia. The Division has an ACGME-accredited fellowship program
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse who will function as a Clinical Case Manager for the Pediatric Hematology Program. The RN functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating interdisciplinary professional care of sickle cell patients by arranging for testing, clinic visits, referrals, providing education and outpatient support.
- Integral role in sickle cell program development.
- Coordinating the Newborn Screen for hematology referrals.
- Coordinating the care of pediatric patients with thrombotic and non-hemophilia bleeding disorders, platelet and white cell disorders, and anemia.
- Providing education to patients and families about pediatric hematological disorders and their individual treatment.
