This position, under the general direction of the Cancer Services Manager, is responsible for the complete coordination of patient interactions required of patients enrolled in research protocols. These coordinating activities are defined by the various research agencies. This position is also responsible for facilitating the accrual of patients onto protocols.
Nature and Scope:
This position, which functions independently, is challenged to maintain research protocols with an extremely high degree of accuracy. While the incumbent must be highly organized and tolerant of isolation, this person must also have superb interpersonal skills to negotiate with physicians and physician staff to enroll patients and to comply with protocol rules. This position also provides coverage for the OPIC on an emergency basis.
The incumbent must demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensor, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the adult and geriatric patient population served and meets standards of quality as measured by the unit/department age specific competency standards.
