This position is responsible for supervising the Oncology Care Management team. The goal is to provide daily operational oversight of clinical staff and facilitate enhanced efficient, effective and coordinated patient care.
- Provides professional clinical leadership and oversight. Oversees clinical policy & procedure compliance.
- Provides active and timely feedback to medical site director and practice manager on advancement of IHA Quality and Performance Improvement initiatives and goals at site.
- Team liaison for provider and staff on communication and clinical site development issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Administrative and Supervision
1. Supervises Oncology department staff, including recruiting and hiring, scheduling, approving timesheets, submitting payroll information, training, resolving conflicts and patient complaints, ensuring policies and procedures are followed in compliance with federal regulations, and acting as a liaison between providers and staff.
2. Assists with hiring, orientation, training and coaching of clinical staff.
3. Together with providers, develops and clarifies clinical office protocols for office staff.
4. Assists in the development and oversight of office budget.
5. Implements inventory control system related to clinical supplies and immunizations/medications.
6. Contributes to the development and ongoing implementation of the CORE Office Work plan.
1. Provides ongoing communication to physicians, staff and practice managers regarding pertinent clinical issues from respective committees.
2. Collaborates with the office leadership on efforts to build and maintain effective teams among the office employees.
3. Assists the site medical director in assuring adequate clinical staff training and competence. Participates in new clinical staff orientation related to all of the responsibilities outlined in this description.
4. Acts as a clinical resource for staff and providers.
5. In collaboration with provider and office leadership, incorporates Quality and Performance Improvement strategic goals into office activities to ensure their achievement.
Clinical Functions and Other Responsibilities
1. May perform any or all of the functions performed under the position descriptions within the clinical team.
2. Supports other offices, attends required meetings and training, and participates in committees as requested.
3. Performs other duties as assigned and works within scope of RN licensure.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree/graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing Program
CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: Valid, unrestricted RN license in the State of Michigan. Valid CPR certification.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5 years of clinical experience in a medical or physician office, with prior established leadership experience. Previous Care Management an Oncology experience is highly desirable.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS (ABILITIES & SKILLS):
1. Knowledge of nursing and patient care principles and procedures related to position responsibilities.
2. Demonstrated competency in obtaining accurate patient vital statistics (height, weight, blood pressure, temperature, etc.) and patient health history.
3. Regular travel between office locations is a requirement of this role.
4. Proficient/knowledgeable in medical terminology.
5. Maintains complete knowledge and complies with all relevant insurance, CPT coding and diagnosis guidelines.
6. Proficiency in operating a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including but not limited to, electronic medical records/templates, NextGen, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as required while performing the essential functions of the job.
7. Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms, including proper phone etiquette. Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed written and oral instructions.
8. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment; courteous and friendly demeanor.
9. Ability to work effectively with various levels of organizational members and diverse populations including IHA staff, providers, patients, family members, vendors, outside customers and community groups.

15. Knowledge of the compliance aspects of clinical care and patient privacy and best practices in medical office operations.
16. Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner.
17. Ability to travel to other office/practice sites and meeting and training locations.
18. Successful completion of IHA competency-based program within introductory and training period.

8. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face to face for long periods of time in English.
MINIMUM ENVIRONMENTAL EXPECTATIONS:
This job operates in a medical facility and requires regular walking to various locations around the hospital/clinic. Employees will be working where there is patient care equipment. Hazardous materials, including bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids are also present. Exposure to sharps, x-rays, patients' conditions and some unpleasant sights, smells and contagious diseases are possible. This position requires significant interaction with people (many of whom are scared, hurt and/or ill) which can be stressful and result in competing priorities.
