About Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
The mission of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is to serve our patients compassionately and effectively, and to create a healthy future for them and their families. Our mission is supported by our commitment to personalized, excellent care for our patients; a workforce committed to individual accountability, mutual respect and collaboration; and a commitment to maintaining our financial health.
Critical to our success is the partnership between the medical center and its physicians. It is this partnership that allows the medical center to carry out its mission of teaching, research and clinical care. Our partnership with Harvard Medical School and our role as a major Harvard teaching hospital strengthen our ability to train, teach and create new knowledge. We are committed to recruiting the best physicians, scientists, nurses and others to support these activities.
In addition to serving our patients, the Medical Center is committed to being active in our local community as well. Service to community is at the core of the religious tradition of both of our founding hospitals, and an important part of our mission. We have a covenant to care for the underserved and to ...work to change disparities in access to care. We know that to be successful we need to learn from those we serve.
We recognize our role as a tertiary/academic resource in a larger health system. We look forward to acting collaboratively with our community partners so that together we can provide the clinical integration that will best serve our patients.
We recognize that the diversity, talent, innovation and commitment of all of our employees contribute to our strength and are a major component of our success. We greatly value the leadership and participation of our trustees, overseers, and donors who make an invaluable contribution to our ability to carry out our mission to serve patients, students, science, and our community.
