Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Director, Patient Care Services to formulate clinical policies and procedures consistent with recognized standards of professional practice and compliant with standards set by regulatory agencies. The Director, Patient Care Services formulates goals, objectives and action plans for Department of Patient Care Services; and participates in developing and maintaining master staffing plan; will assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the Vice President of Patient Care Services. The Director, Patient Care Services develops and monitors area budgets and participates in cost management initiatives; develops and maintains close working relationships with physicians and other healthcare providers and works collaboratively within Patient Care Services and with other departments, fostering a climate of open and effective communication. Initiates steps to enhance application of clinical research. Serves as Department of Patient Care Services liaison to other departments in order to collaborate on projects and performance improvement. Contributes to profession and represents the Institute by presenting papers, presentations or posters at conferences. Participates in professional organizations and community healthcare related organizations. Assumes role of preceptor for undergraduate or graduate nursing students upon request. Prepares other documentation as required by the profession and department. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Applicants must have a Master’s degree in a health care profession and the equivalent of four years of full-time experience in a comprehensive cancer center or complex academic/research medical center including one year experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of six years of full-time experience in a comprehensive cancer center or complex academic/research medical center including one year experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity.
The preferred candidate will have the ability to integrate a healthcare team through interpersonal relationships; have excellent written and oral communication and problem solving skills and demonstrate organizational ability and initiative to manage multiple complex projects and priorities.
