Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
This position is responsible for development and maintenance of the NCCN Chemotherapy Order Templates (NCCN Templates®) as well as the review and integration of content from the NCCN Templates into electronic health record (EHR) systems. This work is completed in collaboration with the NCCN Drugs & Biologics Programs team of oncology pharmacists and nurses, the multidisciplinary NCCN Chemotherapy Order Template Committee, Information Technology (IT) staff, and NCCN Templates® licensees. This position requires minimal overnight travel.
•Develop, update, and/or review the NCCN Templates based on recommendations for chemotherapy found within the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®)
•Learn and use custom software system designed for template publication and maintenance; keep accurate and transparent records of all edits and changes to NCCN Templates
•Collaborate with the multidisciplinary NCCN Chemotherapy Order Template Committee to review NCCN Templates content
•Collaborate with NCCN licensees to ensure accurate representation of NCCN Templates content in 3rd party electronic information systems
•Collaborate with IT staff for the development, testing, and implementation of database improvements to the NCCN Templates to ensure accurate retrieval of data in electronic systems
•Respond to patient and professional inquiries related to the NCCN Templates
•Perform other related duties as assigned
•RN with 10+ years of clinical oncology experience, including 5+ years of oncology infusion center experience
•BSN and OCN strongly preferred
•Experience in scientific/medical writing preferred
•Previous participation in implementation team for chemotherapy orders in electronic systems a plus
•Project management or oncology health information systems experience a plus
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Must have extensive clinical knowledge of chemotherapy administration across a broad range of oncology disease types and drug regimens
•Must be proficient in MS Office products and comfortable working in or learning database systems
•Must have excellent writing skills and the ability to formulate medical information in a clear and concise manner
•Must possess strong attention to detail and ability to maintain and prioritize multiple projects
•Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with internal and external personnel at various levels
