The Nurse Manager for Bennett Cancer Center is responsible for the coordination and delivery of patient care utilizing the nursing process and following all established ONS, ANCC standards of practice, Nursing standards of practice, nursing code of ethics and state and federal guidelines. The nurse manager supervises nursing activities and coordinates staffing and workflow activities to support seamless patient care throughout BCC. The nurse manager coordinates and supervises the orientation of new nursing staff and/or students as requested. He/she adheres to all Stamford Hospital policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program. The nurse manager ensures provision of safe and therapeutic care using the values inherent in our hospital culture.
The Nurse Manager interfaces with the Nursing Director, the Cancer Service Line Director, Administrator of MOH and Chief Radiation therapist. The NM is the primary point of input representing nursing within the BCC. The NM facilitates nursing collaboration with the Administrator of MOH, physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Oncology Nurses and with all staff members within the departments. The NM promotes collaboration with all Stamford Hospital/BCC departments to provide the highest level of care for the patient receiving treatment at BCC. The NM collaborates with colleagues to create a relationship with the patient that enhances care and communication, and streamlines the care process wherever possible.
1) Graduate of accredited school of nursing
2) Valid license as Registered Nurse in CT
3) Bachelors or Masters Degree in Nursing
4) ONS and Chemotherapy Certification preferred.
5) Experience in nursing supervision as a coordinator, charge nurse or manger required.
6) The ability to develop and communicate written policies and procedures is required.
7) BLS certified
8) Advanced proficiency with Microsoft office, experience with data management, and familiarity with electronic medical record systems
