Assists the Outpatient Oncology Clinical Supervisor in the daily operations of the clinical practices in the Creticos Cancer Center. Provides front line leadership support to assure safe and adequate staffing levels, process compliance and a positive patient experience. Collaborates with other departments to promote a comprehensive patient experience. Promotes oncology nursing as an active participant in hospital Magnet activities.
Accountabilities: Promote safe and positive clinical outcomes by providing effective front line leadership and supervision of the clinical staff and operations of the Creticos Cancer Center Promote patient satisfaction and assist the center in achieving KRAs for the Press Ganey patient satisfaction Promoting the KRAs for Funding our Future by assuring cost effectiveness related to staffing, compliance of charge entry standards, and other outlined accountabilities. Promotes Associate Engagement and Physician Engagement by leading a teamwork environment. Promotes growth by leading a team of efficient, service oriented staff.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Board Certification by 12/31/2015 or within two years of hire ~5 or more years of nursing experience focused in oncology ~At least 1 year in oncology outpatient services management experience preferred.
Education requirements if hired into this position prior to January 1, 2012: ~BSN preferred ~Good customer orientation ~Basic skills in organization ~Planning and delegation skills ~Basic team building skills Good communication skills ~Utilization of critical thinking in timely decision making ~Proficient with use of electronic medical record. ~Illinois RN License required ~OCN preferred ~Chemotherapy Provider Certification Required ~BLS required Ability to work within a rapidly changing environment Ability to move patients, lifting 30 lbs or more may be required Ability to work collaboratively with internal/external customers Ability to prioritize and respond to multiple, simultaneous requests May be exposed to hazardous materials and life~threatening diseases 24~hour accountability for patient care issues Ability to transport objects from one location to another This position needs to recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.
