Nurse Practitioner: Oncology

Baltimore, MD Full Time (40 hours), Day Shift
The Nurse Practitioner within the Oncology Department works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team and is responsible for providing comprehensive care to our patients. Primary responsibilities include educating patients, managing care in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, providing on-going support and follow-up for our patients, and coordinating care across multiple internal and external providers. The Nurse Practitioner practices within the guidelines of Johns Hopkins institution and in accordance with the Nurse Practitioner-Physician Written Agreement required and approved by the state of Maryland. The Nurse Practitioner is granted affiliate staff privileges by the Johns Hopkins Hospital Medical Board; these privileges list specific tasks and are reviewed annually.
Master’s from an accredited Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
Maryland RN licenses and NP certification as an ACNP.
Must be eligible for DEA registration.
Three years of nursing experience required, experience in our specialty preferred.
Acute NP certification.
Significant acute care nursing experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced clinical skills in specialty area or equivalent.
Advanced research knowledge including interpretation, utilization, and conduct.
General computer knowledge and capability to use computer.
Ability to incorporate into practice theoretical concepts and advanced clinical skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary health care team members.
Analytical ability necessary to diagnose patients and to develop and implement plans of action for long and short term management of health.
Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary health care team to enhance collaboration and problem-solving.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in order to provide information to patients and health care personnel.
Ability to function effectively in a fluid, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment.
