We have a Full Time RN position available supporting the Hematology-Oncology Department which provides acute clinical evaluation and treatment to patients with cancer. Treatments include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, IV hydration, oral chemotherapy monitoring, patient teaching, and Telephone Triage. The HemOnc department is the only option for chemotherapy across Atrius so we are infusing many of the Rheumatology patients as well as GI, dermatology, etc. It is necessary to have sufficient nursing to support the operations. This position has been vacant due to illness since February, and the volume is being absorbed by the remaining Oncology nursing staff. In the short term, this has been feasible. However, as volume increases and the summer vacation season approaches, management of the patients will be increasingly difficult. Safety, timeliness, and positive patient experience all depend on a reasonable nurse: patient ration. The Unit typically has 40 patients scheduled per session and many patients have complicated and intense treatment regimens. Maintaining a highly qualified and experienced oncology nursing staff is critical to the ongoing success of the Practice.
Performs other duties as needed. Any other duties performed which are not listed as essential functions are considered non-essential functions.
