We have built and launched a new patient-centered oncology clinic in Austin TX attached to the University of Texas at Austin's health enterprise. Our new model of care is called CaLM, (CAncer Life ReiMagined), and our vision is to reimagine how cancer care is delivered to ensure all patients (and their loved ones) receive state of the art, compassionate, whole-person care.
We are looking for a skilled and passionate Oncology Nurse who wants to help pioneer this new model of cancer care, build supportive care programs, and help us bring our vision of whole-person cancer care to life. You must be: creative, flexible, team-oriented, passionate, and resilient! We have an amazing team and are looking for the right person to complete the puzzle.
Duties: Deliver nursing interventions to oncology patients. Manage and triage incoming patient calls to evaluate call purpose and acuity utilizing established protocols and nursing assessment. Prioritize patient health problems according to their urgency, educate/advise patients, help schedule appointments and make safe, effective clinical decisions under the direction of the patient's physician. Recommend appropriate care disposition and follows up as necessary to promote positive outcomes for patient.
Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN). Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing. Three years of general nursing experience with some administrative experience. Current CPR certification. Three years’ experience in oncology, supportive care, or palliative care outpatient clinical practice. Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Outstanding organizational and time-management skills. Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various delicate, formal, or urgent situations. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients. Must be comfortable and flexible with changing priorities and self-directed problem solving.
