PRN/Pool / Day Shift
The Medical Oncology Registered Nurse at Vail Health plays a significant role in our Shaw Cancer Center. Our Oncology nurse work with the physicians and other members of interdisciplinary teams to take care of patients with cancer. This job requires compassion and personal fortitude to deal with patients suffering from such a profound illness as cancer. Functions also roll out to the following, but not limited to:
Implement new methods of symptom treatment and monitor the patients' progress
Create a supportive environment and educate the patient and patient's family about the disease and the course of treatment
The Medical Oncology
Shaw Cancer Center's medical oncologists specialize in treating cancer using systemic therapy such as chemotherapy or biologic therapy. Chemotherapy uses medication to destroy cancer cells. Often, it is the only treatment necessary; other times, cancer treatment plans may include chemotherapy plus surgery and/or radiation.

Minimum of Associate Nursing Degree for positions hired after 07/01/2018
One-year clinical experience required
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or from a valid compact state required
Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by American Heart Association preferred
