The University of Miami UMHC/SCCC – APP Operations has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Supervisor. The incumbent will work with leadership to determine the optimal allocation of staff, per shift and on each unit. Serves as administrative authority for the smooth functioning of all units on assigned shift. Notifies administrator, associate administrator, nurse manager or other relevant staff of urgent concerns during the shift. Receives employee, resident, and family grievances, and refers information to appropriate supervising staff. Completes evaluations for employees on shift. Recommends establishment or revisions of policies, and develops organizational structure and standards of performance to ensure legal compliance and high quality standards. Assists with annual budget preparation by identifying supply and equipment. Reviews schedule to assure that staffing is in place. Makes rounds on operational clinical units to supervise and monitor work performance in terms of patient care, staff regulations, and effective service. Maintains a high level of familiarity with systems that support clinical and business functionality. Provides leadership in building loyalty and commitment throughout the department. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Patient safety is a top priority. As a result, during the Influenza ("the flu") season (September through April), the University of Miami School of Medicine requires all employees who provide ongoing services to patients, work in a location (all Hospitals and clinics) where patient care is provided, or work in patient care or clinical care areas, to have an annual influenza vaccination. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN, valid Florida RN license, BLS, ACLS and a minimum of three years relevant work experience (minimum of one (1) year of Oncology experience is required).
