Bayhealth Hematology / Oncology Associates are seeking to expand our Hematology-Oncology practice with the addition of an oncology nurse practitioner. The oncology nurse practitioner, under the direction of the oncologists, manage cancer and hematology patients in inpatient and outpatient settings. Preferred candidates would have experience in hematology-oncology physician practices and hold an oncology advance practice provider certification.
The Bayhealth Cancer Institute is a growing oncology program which includes 6 physician hematologist-oncologists, 3 physician radiation oncologists and 3 oncology certified nurse practitioners; clinical research program (ECOG), nurse navigation, telegenetics program, and a formalized survivorship program. Bayhealth is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
The health system supports two integrated cancer centers locations on the Kent and Sussex campuses approximately 20 miles apart, providing cancer services to Central and Southern Delaware communities and sees approximately 1,000 newly diagnosed cancer cases each year. The Bayhealth Cancer Institute uses EPIC Beacon EMR platform and is fully integrated electronically with the health system. Bayhealth is a member of the Penn Cancer Network of the University of Pennsylvania's Abramson Cancer Center.
The Oncology Nurse Practitioner examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. The Nurse Practitioner works within a collaborative model to provide quality care and to improve patient outcomes by strengthening continuity of care in all settings for patients, families, and staff in both the hospital and physician practice settings.
Requires a Nurse Practitioner with a Master's degree in area of specialty, certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), state authority for advance practive in Adult Health, two (2) years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a physician practice setting and / or related nursing experience, current Delaware Advanced Practice Nurse license with prescriptive authority, Adanced Cardiac Life Saving (ACLS) certification, basic skills with Microsoft Office programs, or similar programs, able to navigate medical websites and patient databases.
