Keck Medicine of USC is hiring a new Nurse Manager, Infusion Center Operations (New Position) for the USC Norris Cancer Hospital which is affiliated with the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center as one of the nation's 49 NCI designated comprehensive cancer centers.
USC Norris focuses on 13 key areas of cancer treatment: breast cancer, colorectal cancer, genetic counseling, gynecological cancers, head and neck cancers, hematology, lung cancer, melanoma, neuro-oncology, radiation oncology, sarcoma, skin cancer and urologic oncology.
Responsibilities include all clinical and administrative operations of Norris Day Hospital. Directs nursing practice, education, and services. Supervises the utilization of resources and the application of new technological developments in patient care. Performs complex and varied administrative and clinical assignments. Serves as a personal contact for physicians, staff, and outside departments in order to address problems, issues or concerns that require attention.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee operational and administrative functions, budgets, staff development, and quality metrics of the Norris Day Hospital.
Function as a leader and an expert professional practitioner and assume responsibility and accountability for the expert application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care.
Consistently demonstrate professional skills and abilities and utilize your knowledge base and exemplary leadership and education skills to direct and supervise the clinical performance of others.
Demonstrate motivation and creativity and serves as a catalyst for effective change within nursing at the department and institutional levels.
Ensure nursing staff performs within their scope of responsibility and duties, and ensures accountability at the facility, department and position levels, including knowledge of required clinical/technical skills.
Support quality improvement and clinical care delivery processes; staffing, scheduling, and retention of staff; safety and quality management.
Lead all processes applicable to assigned unit(s), including human resources, budgeting, staffing, quality improvement planning and educational develop programs.
Supervise and be responsible for promoting maximum growth and development of each employee he/she supervises, supports research, participates in strategic planning, both long and short term, and assures patient advocacy.
2-5 years of experience in an infusion/oncology setting.
2+ years managing clinical operations in a healthcare setting. Multi-specialty clinic experience preferred.
2+ years of experience in an acute or ambulatory setting.
Excellent people management skills.
Ability to motivate and challenge staff.
Good decision-making skills.
Ability to bridge the gap between administrative demands and clinical needs.
Experience implementing and managing process improvement initiatives.
Strong ability to communicate in both written and verbal forms.
Master’s degree preferred
CA RN License required. If no CA RN, one must be obtained within a defined time period
