Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Performs primary medical care and clinical duties with the direction of a Medical Oncologist. This position does require working at multiple clinics.
Main Job Function
Provides primary or specialty medical care with the cognizance or supervision of a physician.
Obtains and evaluates medical histories, performs physical examinations, performs therapeutic and diagnostic procedures; orders laboratory studies, radiographs, electrocardiograms, and other special examinations.
Attends to acute care patients and allows for acute care visits within daily schedule.
Analyzes and interprets data, formulates problem lists and establishes plans for solution of clinical problems.
Counsels patients on medical problems, use of drugs, expected effects of treatment and other therapeutic health maintenance matters.
Makes entries in patients’ permanent medical records.
Coordinates patient care with other members of health care team.
Initiates consultation requests to other health professionals to provide more comprehensive patient management.
Accomplishes narrative summaries and other documentation.
Instructs other members of the health care team.
Others duties as assigned by supervising physician.
Patient Care Team
Education and/or Experience
Master's Degree in Nursing.
Minimum of three (3) years professional nursing experience in a clinical setting and one (1) year experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
Minimum of one (1) year experience with oncology/hematology, writing chemo orders, and working in a clinic setting.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Current State of Texas Nurse Practitioner license
Current Nurse Practitioner Certification or eligibility required
Current CPR certification
