Waldo County General Hospital (WCGH) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology in Belfast. The Oncology – Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse exercises independent judgment when providing comprehensive nursing care to oncology patients in the clinic office setting, in the performance of telephone triage, and in the administration of chemotherapy and infusion/transfusion therapy for patients in this outpatient setting. The RN is accountable and responsible for clinical decision making and coordination of a patient’s care during an assigned shift or throughout the course of treatment. The RN exercises independent judgment to assess patient needs, to develop the plan of nursing actions in collaboration with the healthcare team, to implement the plan and to evaluate the effects and outcome of the care provided. The RN will provide direct nursing care to patients in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Maine State Board of Nursing. As part of the care team, the RN will coordinate, assign and oversee patient care duties delegated to registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and certified nurse aides (CNAs).
Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the State of Maine.
AHA BCLS required.
3 years’ experience in acute clinical setting required. Oncology nursing experience preferred. Ambulatory practice experience preferred.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Successful completion of biotherapy and chemotherapy course within 3 months of hire.
Completion of a certified Chemotherapy course, within 2 years for OCN eligible RNs with the expectation to maintain this certification.
Flexible to work at either the WCGH or Pen Bay Medical Center Outpatient Oncology locations
