POSITION SUMMARY
Maintains technical and quality assurance standards and procedures for the Clinical Laboratory. Performs qualitative and quantitative analyses in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Microbiology to obtain data used by pathologists and physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Assists in the integration, implementation, and monitoring of departmental procedures and processes. Assists in the ordering of supplies and troubleshooting of instrumentation. Assists in tracking problems involving patient care. Assists in in-services for new staff and students. Assists in monitoring of proficiency and competency testing for clinical laboratory. Provides quality customer service through ongoing interface and frequent communication with patients, physicians, hospital staff and management. Assists in efforts to implement change and foster team building. Understands and contributes to the vision/mission and goals of the Clinical Laboratory.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION Required: BS in medical technology or related field, including internship in an accredited program. Preferred: Additional training in CQI Process related health care standards and practices.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION Required: ASCP or equivalent that meets CLIA requirements for position. WORK EXPERIENCE Required: 3 years related experience. Preferred: Supervisory or leadership experience
OTHER/S Skills Required: Team building, problem solving, critical thinking, coaching and mentoring, and interpersonal communication. Current CPR training. Preferred: Management skills and training. Knowledge Required: Regulatory and accreditation requirements Preferred: Continuous Quality Improvement Process related health care standards and practices.
