Oncology Triage Registered Nurse (RN) needed at a busy Cancer Center on the Southern Oregon Coast. This position sorts and prioritizes patients via telephone to ensure prompt identification of patients with high-risk conditions, provides direction of care and clinical phone advice.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Overview of Job Duties…
Assess patients over the telephone to evaluate their concerns and answer their questions.
Perform a brief patient evaluation to estimate the severity of illness and/or injury, including discussion of their chief complaint.
Determine the urgency of the patient’s need to be seen based on the evaluation and help the patient determine whether an appointment should be made, if they should seek emergency treatment or if they can treat themselves at home.
Ensure accurate notes of consultation and treatment are documented in the patient’s EHR.
Schedule appropriate appointments for patients who need to be seen by a Physician and coordinate timeliness of the visit.
Serve as a resource for the Medical Assistants (MA’s).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Outstanding communication skills.
Skill in assessing and managing chemotherapy/immunotherapy side effects.
Skill in using practice management software, EHR.
Ability to communicate clearly and calmly with patient and family.
Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergent situations.
Unrestricted Oregon RN Licensure, or Ability to Apply for Oregon License
Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Preferred
Chemo/Bio Certification, or able to Obtain with 180 Days of Employment
