At Hilo Medical Center, a nationally-recognized “Top Performing" hospital, the Registered Professional Nurse is a valuable member of our team. We are currently seeking a Registered Professional Nurse IV for our busy Medical Oncology Team. This position will be responsible for providing physician support. Duties include planning and organizing services; collaborating with department supervisor to provide optimum patient care; assisting in developing and monitoring quality improvement issues; serves as a resource in clinical matters and may serve as a charge nurse on an assigned shift and perform other related duties as assigned.

Education: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis on critical care nursing and/or administration is highly desirable.
Evidence of the appropriate training (e.g. official transcript of diploma) should be submitted with the application to be given credit for education. A legible photocopy will be accepted. However, Hilo Medical Center reserves the right to request an official copy.
Experience: One and one-half (1 ½) years of professional nursing work experience. One (1) year of oncology related experience is highly desirable.
Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory or administrative capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
Substitution: Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university school of nursing may be substituted for all the required experience. Submit copy of master’s degree with the application.
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is required one (1) month after employment. ACLS required within twelve (12) months of employment. Completion of a Critical Care course is preferred.
Licensure: State of Hawaii Registered Professional Nurse. Evidence of licensure is required with the application.
