Holy Redeemer Hospital, an integral part of the organization, is seeking an Oncology Infusion Nurse for its Cancer Center, located in Meadowbook, PA (suburban Philadelphia). This is a Full-Time Day/Evening, On Call position that collaborates with the members of the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care, in an outpatient Oncology center.
Essential duties include:
Management of patients diagnosed with cancer and blood diseases in conjunction with a physician.
Patient education, administration of IV therapy, chemotherapy, hydration and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician.
Assessing, prioritizing, and monitoring of the patient under their care, and providing education regarding therapy and treatment associated with specific medications.
Utilizing critical thinking skills in assessing patient symptoms to determine appropriate education and support.
Working collaboratively with physicians regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
Responsibility for documentation of nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient record, as well as communicating all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician and care team, as appropriate.
Patient care functions for the oncology infusion nurse also include the assessment of patient/family needs and provision of teaching and other instructional material.
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing upon hire (within 6 months)
Specialty certification required (Biotherapy and Chemotherapy Certification)
IV skills, experience in oncology or infusion therapy required
Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills, Effective Public speaking and presentation skills required
Proficient in use of personal computer programs including word, power point, excel and data management programs preferred
BLS certification required
Membership in the Oncology Nursing Society or similar Professional organization is preferred
