The Nurse Manager for Oncology is the designated first-line supervisory authority, responsibility, and accountability for the 24/7 operations. This position is not eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The Nurse Manager, Oncology will perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following: Working closely with the staff in the Oklahoma City Health Care System in delivering care to a diverse group of Veterans. Ensuring the subordinate personnel provide timely nursing care which complies with generally accepted standards of clinical practice. Providing leadership and oversight of nursing practice and operations. Facilitating an interdisciplinary approach to high quality, cost effective, and customer-focused health care. Attending leadership and facility level meetings and keeping nursing leadership informed of issues with potential impact to nursing or patient care. Providing information regarding emergencies, unusual occurrences, or issues that impact nursing practice or operations to the Associate Chief Nurse and/or Associate Director of Patient Care Services. Implementing the Vision, Mission, and Values of the Oklahoma VA Health Care System within the areas of responsibility. Providing leadership in the day-to-day operations and input into the strategic planning process for the attainment of organizational goals. Supervising the nursing personnel in their defined are of responsibility and evaluating their performance and competency. Ensuring appropriate orientation, education, and continuing professional development of nursing personnel supervised. Participating with the planning and monitoring the budget for the area of responsibility. Work Schedule: Varying shifts and hours to meet the needs of the department.
