Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a LPN to support our GYN office located in Norfolk.

Assist with pap smears, biopsies, LEEP procedures, staple removal.
Prep lab specimens f or sen d out and take to the lab boxes
Review of systems: Assess patients for changes in condition, including but not limited to abnormal labs, x-rays, scans.
Set up outside procedures (i.e. port placement and blood transfusion), referrals, and obtain prior authorization.
Obtain pathology reports, manage faxes, and return emergent and non-emergent patient phone calls.
Room patients with vital signs and maintain efficient and appropriate patient flow.
Documents all elements of care
Serve as a resource to the Medical Assistants.
Communicate all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician, nurse, or advanced practice provider
Assess patient and family needs.
Complete new patient chart prep for physician team ensuring all elements of the patients work up is available to for review upon first appointment with provider
Assist with monitoring Navigating Care tickets
Assist with monitoring the prescription refill queue
Respond to physician chart messages (ie. calling patients with pap smear results)
Turn over rooms between patients and clean up at the end of the day (washing speculums, etc)
High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing. BSN preferred.
Requires a minimum of two years experience as a practical nurse (with Central Line Care and IV skills) in a hospital or clinic setting.
Phlebotomy experience preferred.
Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicing state.
Current CPR certification required.
Must be willing to travel between offices when needed.
