Shenandoah Oncology is looking for a committed and compassionate Chemotherapy Infusion Nurse to join our team. We offer state-of-the-art therapies that allow our patients to get university-level care close to home in Winchester, VA. The position is Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 4:30 p.m. ET., and our practice observes several paid holidays and offers a competitive benefits package. Responsibilities:
Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards
Must recognize physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of care and participate in company-wide quality initiatives
Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices
Assesses patient or family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material, along with managing patient medication refill requests as needed
Administers all therapies (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and hematology), medications, using correct medication, dosage or amount, route, time, and technique as directed by a physician
Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable
Facilitates dose modification by assessing patients, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management
Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices
Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided
Maintains current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities
Maintains work environment by following disinfection protocols, monitoring equipment for quality control, and restocking the supply area as needed
Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen
Facilitates and schedules consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients
Assists and collaborates with clinical research and acts as a resource to LPN/LVNs and MAs
Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred
Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Willing to consider an entry, mid, or senior level candidate
