Position Summary
St. Luke's Cancer Institute is seeking a nurse to join the radiation oncology team in clinic support and triage. The clinic support RN is a unique position and plays a significant role in supporting the entire radiation oncology clinic. The clinic support RN is the backbone of the radiation oncology department and will work alongside the providers and other RN's to care for patients, coordinate care for complex patients, follow up and educate patients and their families on care plan. The RN for oncology triage is responsible for assessing patient needs over the phone and in person. Excellent critical thinking and assessment skills will be required to evaluate patients of all ages receiving radiation treatment.
This RN is a keystone to the complex, high quality, compassionate care that Idaho has come to expect of our organization. Promoting a positive patient experience with compassion and kindness while integrating technical skills, scientific knowledge, and a caring attitude both in the clinic and through the triage process to aid those living with cancer and their families will be essential. This RN will be an integral part of our radiation oncology patient's care starting from diagnosis, treatment, then survivorship to end of life.
This is a full-time position, 0.9 FTE (8-hour shift x 9 days per pay period). The Cancer Institute is closed on weekends and St. Luke's recognized holidays. We look forward to meeting you!
Responsibilities
- Identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Develops, implements and coordinates individualized plan of care for patients assigned through initial and on-going assessments
- Initiates assessment based on the patient's problems or needs, the physician's medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework
- Performs therapeutic nursing interventions
- Manages care of patients
- Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities
- Advocates for evidence-based practice care standards and supports adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery
- Provides patient centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Nursing Degree
- One (1) + years' RN experience
- Current RN licensure from the State of Practice
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider Card
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of RN experience
- Oncology experience
- Strong assessment skills
