Summary:
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (Roswell Park) is seeking a dynamic, accomplished, and forward-looking executive to serve as its Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Senior Vice President.
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Senior Vice President exercises executive-level responsibility for the development and implementation of patient care standards and professional practice standards for the more than 850 nurses throughout the organization and for the organization's delivery of high-quality nursing care. This role also serves as an active member of the hospital’s leadership team, acting as a team builder by planning and implementing programs resulting in consistently high-quality clinical service and secures and maintains the ANCC Magnet designation/re-designation for Roswell Park. The CNO ensures that all nursing care provided at the organization is safe and is consistent with the regulations governing practice in the State of New York and as promulgated by other accrediting agencies, representing a total of more than 3,900 employees and an annual operating budget exceeding $1 billion dollars.
Roswell Park is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Upstate New York and is consistently recognized by US News & World Report – Best Hospitals for Cancer.
The Roswell Park clinical engine includes 157 beds, nearly 300,000 outpatient visits annually, full surgical, diagnostic and treatment services and an oncology network that includes 15 locations across New York. The main campus spans 29 acres in downtown Buffalo and consists of 15 buildings housing clinical services, cutting edge research facilities, and academic facilities for its education mission.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidates for this role will possess:
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
Master’s degree in nursing, business administration or a health-related field and the equivalent of five (5) years of post-licensure experience plus five (5) years’ experience in a managerial or executive capacity within a hospital or medical center, preferably a cancer center.
Knowledge and skill related to specific nursing practice and, in particular, issues related to oncology nursing.
Coaching and development of staff to include assessing strengths and opportunities of the existing nursing staff
Ability to influence others by presenting a compelling case for proposals and ideas; gaining support and commitment from others; and mobilizing others to take action.
Necessary management skills to guide his/her Nurse administrative staff in managing their respective nursing areas; Ability to ensure that all nursing staff possesses the required age-specific competencies and skills to provide care to the population served by the organization.
Knowledge and skills related to leadership, nursing management, human resources management, and financial management.
