We’re looking for a dynamic, driven and career-minded nurse navigator to join our esteemed oncology team to support our MultiD Cancer Coordination Program. This full-time opportunity will allow you to work alongside an esteemed Magnet® RN team and a renowned multidisciplinary group of physicians to enhance and improve our level of care and service for our cancer patients.
As an oncology nurse navigator at UF Health Shands, you’ll be able to:
Create and implement quality metrics for oncology patients.
Organize and facilitate multidisciplinary tumor conferences and clinics within the organ site group to ensure case materials are assembled, patients scheduled and appropriate patient follow-up occurs.
Ensure coordination between UF Health diagnostic imaging and pathology services to deliver diagnostic information to conferences and clinics.
Collaborate with other members of the patient navigator service, including administrative support staff, to ensure coverage of all patient care needs.
Participate in community outreach and education regarding assigned tumor groups and support physicians.
Serve as a liaison between internal/referring physicians, other members of the care team and patients, ensuring that patients' emotional and support needs are addressed and appropriate clinical and administrative information is communicated to patients in a timely.
Ensure seamless transition of patients through the care process across the multiple departments of the UF Health system.
Assist in identifying and recruiting potentially eligible patients into relevant clinical trials and other programs aimed at reducing health care disparities and improving patient outcomes.
Collaborate with oncology physician leaders by representing radiation oncology, medical oncology, general surgery and other specialists.
Work with Associate Director for Medical Affairs at the UF Health Cancer Center relative to clinical performance, integration with other members of the navigator service and strategic direction.
We’re seeking dynamic and well-rounded candidates with a current Florida RN license and at least two years of hospital or clinic experience, preferably within oncology. Preferred applicants would have the OCN and/or have proven knowledge or experience in medical, surgical and radiation oncology, including diagnostic and laboratory data and clinical management of patients. Applicants with their BSN degree are desired. Current BLS certification is required.
